Sill
Privacy Policy
Sill has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. Nothing you do in the app is reported to us, because there is no “us” for it to be reported to.

The short version
Sill checks the weather for one place and plays matching music through your own Apple Music subscription. It talks only to Apple’s services, chooses songs on your iPhone, and does not collect, store, sell, or share your personal data. It does not track you across apps or websites.
What Sill stores on your iPhone
- Your place. The city you chose (or the one your approximate location resolved to), with its coordinates and time zone, so Sill can check the weather there next time.
- Your settings. Temperature units, color palette, mood override, Discovery or playlist mode, the IDs of the playlists you picked, whether explicit songs are allowed, and any running sleep timer.
- Your feedback. The Apple Music IDs of songs you liked or disliked (up to 100), recently skipped (up to 10), and recently played (up to 80), so future mixes can lean toward what you like and avoid repeats.
- The latest weather. One cached weather reading, so the app has something to show while it checks again.
- What the widget shows. The room, the current weather, the song title and artist, and a small copy of its cover art, kept in a container shared only with Sill’s own widget.
All of it stays on the device and is not included in any Sill-run backup or sync, because there isn’t one. Deleting Sill removes all of it.
Song selection happens on your iPhone
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence turned on, Sill uses Apple’s on-device language model to choose songs and write a short description of the mix. The weather and the candidate songs are given to the model on your iPhone; there is no cloud fallback, and nothing is sent to a server for this step. On iPhones without Apple Intelligence, Sill uses its own built-in ranking, also on the device.
Your location
Location is optional; you can type a city instead. If you choose “Use my location,” Sill asks for permission only while the app is open, requests reduced (approximate) accuracy, and reads your location once to find your city. It never tracks your location in the background and never asks again unless you tap the button again.
What leaves your device, and to whom
Every network request Sill makes goes to Apple. There is no Sill server; no request is ever routed through infrastructure we operate.
| Service | What is sent | Why |
|---|---|---|
Apple WeatherWeatherKit | The coordinates of the city you chose, or of your approximate location if you used it. | To get the current conditions and forecast that the mix is matched to. |
Apple MapsMapKit | The text you type into city search, or your approximate location once, to turn it into a city name. | To find and name the place you're listening from. |
Apple MusicMusicKit | Catalog searches for lo-fi and chillhop playlists, requests for the playlists you chose, and playback of the songs in the mix. | To find songs, read the playlists you picked, and play the music. |
Apple Music artworkApple's image servers | A request for the cover art of the song that's playing. No account or device identifier is added by Sill. | To show the album cover in the Home Screen widget. |
Each request carries your device’s IP address as an unavoidable part of any internet request, and Apple’s privacy policy governs what Apple does with it.
Apple Music
Playback runs through Apple’s MusicKit framework under your own Apple Account. Sill reads only the playlists you choose and never adds to, edits, or deletes anything in your library. Beyond the playlists you pick, it learns nothing about your Apple Music library, listening history, or subscription other than whether catalog playback is available.
What Sill does not do
- No analytics or crash-reporting services of any kind.
- No advertising, ad identifiers, or IDFA access.
- No tracking of you across other apps or websites, and no data shared with data brokers.
- No third-party SDKs. Sill is built entirely on Apple’s own frameworks.
- No Sill account, and no Sill-operated server that holds your data.
- No uploading of your listening history or feedback.
- No sale of personal information, under any definition, ever.
Your control over your data
- Clear your feedback. Settings → Personalization → “Clear feedback and skips” erases your likes, dislikes, skips, and play history while keeping your city and settings.
- Reset everything. “Reset everything” in the same section clears your settings, city, feedback, and cached weather, returning Sill to first launch.
- Turn off permissions. Location and Apple Music access can be switched off at any time in the iOS Settings app. City search still works without location.
- Delete everything. Deleting the app removes all of the data listed above, including the widget’s copy.
Children
Sill is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new “last updated” date. Material changes to what data leaves your device will be described here rather than quietly amended.
